6.5 earthquakefelt inChiriqui, Bocas
CHIRIQUI and Bocas del Toro were shaken by a 6.5magnitude earthquake during the night of November 12-13 say reports from the National Seismological Network (RSN) and the Panama Fire Department.
The tremor had its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, 19 kilometers south of Jacó, the Costa Rica beach town in the province of Puntarenas, with a depth of 19 kilometers, according to the RSN.
The initial quake was followed by two aftershock,s of 5.1 and 4.1 on the Richter scale.
Costa Rican media reported the death of two people from heart attack during the first shock.
The earthquake was felt throughout Costa Rica and in the western area of Chiriqui and in Bocas del Toro.
