Hospitals on green alert for long weekend

PUBLIC OFFICES  in Panama will close at 2 pm on Thursday, Nov November 2, The Day of the Dead, a celebration of pre-Hispanic origins, in all cultures of ancient Mexico and Panama. Flags will be lowered to half-mast throughout the day.

A long weekend follows as the country marks Independence Day  November 3 and Colon Day, November 5 with National holidays.
As  Colon Day falls on a  Sunday, Monday will be a holiday. Hospitals have been placed on a green alert as scores of thousands of vehicles are expected to head to the interior.
