Cop caught with 49 packets of drugs
A NATIONAL Police (PN) officer identified with drug shipping in an intelligence operation was arrested in Chame, on Thursday, October 19.
He is a 27-year-old corporal with eight years service. the latest in a string of arrests implicating officers as high ranking as major, all pledged “to serve and protect.”
He was captured on the Pan-American highway en route to La Chorrera, West Panama.
National Police, Director Omar Pinzón, revealed that intelligence information about a member of the PN who, in his free time, participated in the movement of drugs led to the interception.
Members of the Anti-Narcotics Police Unit (UPNA )were deployed to capture the suspect who worked at the National Traffic Operations Directorate (DNOT).
The agent was traveling in a grey Kia Rio vehicle, carrying total 49 packages of illicit substances.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, reported that no date has been set for a hearing but within the institution, a disciplinary process is proceeding.
