21 Carnival Queens to parade in Panama City
THE BATTLE for primacy of competing Queens is a feature of Carnival celebrations in communities across the country, but few people get to see all the rival beauties.
This year Panama’s Tourism Authority (ATP) is uniting 21 queens in one parade in Panama city on Sunday May 14.
21 decorated floats each with a different sovereign, will leave the Teatro Assa on Balboa Avenue at 2 pm and parade along the Cinta Costera
Represented will be: Tourism Authority, Panama City Hall, Calle Abajo de Chitré, Punta Fogón Unido, Calle Abajo de Tonosí, Calle Abajo de Parita, Calle Abajo de La Palma, Calle Abajo de Capira, Calle Arriba de Aguadulce, Calle Abajo de Pedasí, Calle Abajo de Chitré, Calle Arriba de Pedasí, Calle Arriba de Tonosí, Calle Arriba de La Villa, Calle Arriba de Las Tablas, Calle Arriba de Parita, Calle Abajo de la Villa, Calle Abajo de Aguadulce, Calle Arriba de La Palma, Calle Arriba de Capira and Calle Abajo Tableño.
According to ATP Administrator Gustavo Him, the newly conceived parade is a tourist attraction so that Panamanians who miss out on visits to Carnivals in the interior of the country can enjoy a sample of the fun that is generated in those towns.
