Bus accident, sends eight to hospital
EIGHT passenger were injured and taken to hospital when a bus carrying 15 passengers overturned in Villa Carmen de Capira, in West Panama on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28.
The bus ended up in a ditch in the center of four lanes of the Inter-American highway, during the lane reversal to accommodate scores of thousands of vehicles returning to the capital city.
Six ambulances ferried the injured to Nicolás Solano Hospital in La Chorrera.
José Donderis, director of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) said that during Carnival the Joint Task Force attended 1,024 accidents.
The Social Security Fund reported that in five days of the Carnival green alert emergency rooms of the polyclinics and hospitals dealt with 11,450 patients.
