OPINION: A chance to escape fog of corruption
Hoyporhoy La Prensa Feb, 7
AMIDST the crises and disagreements on the benches of the three main political parties of the country, they are negotiating the kind of justice to which Panamanians will be entitled in the future.
Already Bill 245 has ceased to be a tool for managing prison overcrowding, and instead will become the instrument that can finally start the task of controlling the massive public corruption of this nation.
In the hands of a handful of deputies is the definition of a functional rule of law, or a society eaten away by impunity. In half of the Odebrecht case will be discovered other skeins and networks of bribes, surcharges, influence trades and money laundering.
The decisions that you, gentlemen deputies, agree in the next few days, will determine if Panama tomorrow Will be similar to what we already have, or if it approaches that homeland that most Panamanians long for and deserve.
In their conscience is the power to choose the option pf the country that we can be.
Panama is not a booty, nor a den of thieves.
Do not despise your citizens
