19 La Villa homes hit by floods
THE CIVIL DEFENSE agency Sinaproc reported Thursday, Nov. 17, that that the number of homes impacted by flooding in La Villa has risen to 19.
Valentín García, Sinaproc director in Herrera, said that the bad weather is expected to continue, and the agency is monitoring all vulnerable areas.
Garcia said that families affected by the flooding are being assisted by the Red Cross.
“They don’t want to leave the area due to fears they will lose their belongings,” he said.
He said people need to be careful during periods of heavy rains due to the dangers posed by flooding.
Rubiela Rodríguez, a resident of the area, said she was forced to sleep at the house of a neighbor because her home is filled with mud.
