Panama on path for grim record with 378th road death
AN UNIDENTIFIED man aged around 60 became Panama’s 338th traffic fatality in 275 days, when he was hit by two vehicles on Monday October 4
The accident happened at 5.45 am on Obaldía avenue in David, Chiriqui.
It was the 54th traffic death in the province this year.
The victim was hit by a Honda Civic, driven by a 53 year old man, and then struck by a coaster bus.
A breathalyzer test of one of the drivers had a reading of 70%.
Earlier in the day a man was killed by a diablo rojo in Rio Abajo in Panama City.
If road deaths continue at the current rate of over one a day, this years road carnage is likely to surpass all previous annual records.
