70 New wagons for Metro line 1
PANAMA’S METRO Line 1 will get 70 new wagons in 2017 to cope with increasing passenger demand. The first is scheduled to be in service in June. The project called for an investment of $150 million.
Cabinet Council approved the purchase in July 2015.
According to Panama Metro, with that purchase trains the capacity of the existing syste, capacity will be increased to 600,000 thousand passengers per tripand , the fleet of 20 trains will increase to 25.
Production of the first cars began in March this year in Barcelona, Spain.
Panama Metro has also poured concrete of the first five “capitals” of Line 2
The casting began in the Cinquantenaire station on Thursday July 14.
