Homicide unit called to car in Chagres

THE HOMICIDE Unit of the Public Ministry (MP) was called  to the Chagres River, near Chilibre at noon on Sunday, July 3 after the discovery of a body in  a BMW in the river.

The grey car was a few meters from the vehicular bridge that joins the procinces of Panama and Colon. Officials Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) collaborated with the removal of the body.

According to preliminary reports,the  gray BMW was found in the Chagres River, a few meters from a vehicular bridge that divides the province of Panama and Colon.

When the vehicle was first spotted in the river, only the  roof could be seen.

Commissioner Marcos Córdoba, director of the Directorate of Judicial Investigation (DIJ) said the dead man wasHernando Velez a Colombian, who was  manager of the Latin American Confederation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (Colac). The victim was 65 years old.

Investigations are proceeding.
