Extradition moves bullshit–Martinelli
SURROUNDED by former courtiers and his wife, self-exiled ex-president Ricardo Martinelli told reporters at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium that he was “ Happy and content ” and had no intention of returning to Panama to face trial.
He was in Chicago on Friday, June 10 to witness Panama’s 5-0 thrashing in the Copa America centennial tournament.
He said he had no concerns about the extradition papers now in the hands of Panama’s Foreign Ministry, which has made a formal request US authorities for his arrest to face trial for unauthorized interception of communications by the National Security Council.
He is accused by the alleged commission of the crimes of inviolability of secrecy and the right to privacy, embezzlement and embezzlement of use.
Martinelli told reporters “That’s pure bullshit,” and ruled out any possibility of returning to Panama, since according to him “no due process is respected “and the only thing that works is the Varelista Constitution.” Reports La Prensa. He then returned to his political persecution mantra: “My cases are all political, there is no substance.” In addition to the wiretapping case in which the Supreme Court prosecutor is calling for a 21-year jail term, Martinelli faces multiple corruption and embezzlement charges involving scores of millions of dollars.
Martinelli left Panama on January 28, 2015 and has not returned to the country. According to his lawyer, he resides in Miami, in a beachfront apartment in the exclusive Brickell area.
ANXIETY AND DESPAIR
He used the opportunity to deliver his political attack message to a clutch of sports writers:”To me the only thing I care worry about is that the government has neglected the population.
“So now we have an epidemic of H1N1.”[The Health Ministry has declared a health “Alert” and a nationwide vaccination program].
Warming up to his theme he said he was concerned about “the growing insecurity there,” unemployment, the education system, “the anxiety and despair”
His wife Marta Linares de Martinelli –ex vice-presidential candidate, and former members of his government, were on hand to endorse the message
