Canucks and friends plan July 1 gathering

CANADIANS, Panamanians and friends from multiple countries will mark Canada Day,(Fete du Canada) Friday July 1, at an evening celebration organized by the CanadaPLUS Foundation at The Miramar Intercontinental Hotel.
The organizers tell me that over half of the available reservations are already spoken for but you still have until June 18 to confirm, and, as always, your tickets will be delivered to your home or office in Panama City and environs.
Canada Day is the anniversary of the 1867, enactment of the, British North America Act which united three colonies into a single country called Canada The anniversary, originally called Dominion Day was renamed in 1982 and is celebrated by Canucks around the world.
In Panama there will be music, dancing, a buffet of the Mirimar’s most delectable finger foods, an open wine bar and door prizes. It will also be your chance to meet Canadian Ambassador Anna-Karine Asselin and some members of the Canadian Embassy staff.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in a coffee sampling event presented by Frank Tedman of Palo Alto whose Canadian grandfather worked as a dredger captain when the French were building the Panama Canal, and later led a group of settlers to Boquete to launch the coffee growing industry, Sampling will include world acclaimed geisha coffee.

Proceeds will go to the funding of the annual Charity Carols by Candlelight Concert in aid of Hospital Santo Tomas and the Vision of Hope program for the blind.
Tickets for the upcoming Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre series (July 11-13 will be available at the event.
