PRD denies using Assembly funds for campaigning
PANAMA LAWYER Guillermo Cochez is facing a legal challenge after claiming that National Assembly funds to finance a party political campaign to promote PRD Deputy Pedro Miguel Gonzalez.
On Friday. May 21 The PRD deputy rejected the claims and said he did not use state resources for electioneering. “This information is false and in the coming days we will present legal proceedings against Mr. Cochez” he said.
According to Cochez, the Assembly signed a contract for $27,000 dollars a month to rent cars for the exclusive use of Gonzalez.
This is supposedly the rental of seven Toyota vehicles Toyota (Yaris, Prado, Fortuner and Hilux models Isuzu D-Max) for between 15 days and three months. There is also a supposed rental service order for a helicopter for $22,149.
Gonzalez believes that Cochez has been hired to tarnish the renewal efforts of the political group.
The deputy is no stranger to controversy from unresolved murder charges against a US soldier, to building a mini furnished apartment in the Assembly for “sleepovers” when he was its president.
