Panama Papers: Law firm files go public May 9.
PANAMA is bracing for more fallout from the files of the Mossack Fonseca law firm relating to offshore activities of individuals, trusts and corporations at 1 pm Panama time on Monday, May 9.
That’s when. large sections of the 11.5 million documents held by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), will become available on line.
The data contains companies, trusts, foundations and funds incorporated in 21 jurisdictions, from Hong Kong to Nevada, USA.
The information will be published through an interface enabling search by name for well-known entities. The interface will allow queries.
ICIJ, will not include bank records, financial transactions, emails, photographs and telephone numbers. That is, the organization will not make public the private information in documents of the Panamanian firm.
In addition, information will be combined with the database of an earlier ICIJ investigation called ‘Offshore Leaks’, which, has enabled, international media to access thousands of documents about 100,000 companies created in offshore jurisdictions.
According to ICIJ, the publication of the information will be made in the public interest and anyone can review some of the information, while the media group with full access to documents will continue to conduct and publish research of Mossack Fonseca activities, linked on several occasions to alleged crimes.
