Evacuation of Cuban migrants underway
THE AIR LIFT to Mexico of thousands of Cubans who have been stranded in the province of Chiriqui for up to five months, will begin on Monday May 8.
The process will start , with a group of 250 seeking “The American Dream” and will continue until all 3,400 in shelters set up by the Panamanian government have been moved
Officials of the National Immigration Service, and National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC)) and the Ministry of Health have taken the steps to prepare the migrants for the trip, first to Mexico, then to the United States.
Health Minister Francisco Javier Terrientes, during a visit to Los Planes de Gualaca, which has the largest number of Cubans in Chiriqui, said he is giving health certificates to all who are in shelters so they will have no problems on their trip.
