Vice-Minister in eye of Gucci storm, resigns
ZULEMA SUCRE the embattled Ministry of Social Development (Mides) deputy minister has resigned after the public prosecutor opened an investigation into the case of bodyguards, who claimed that she asked them to perform jobs outside their primary obligations including walking her pet dog “Gucci” and ferrying her children to school.
The Ministry of Communications said in a press release: . “The president accepted the decision of the official”
In her letter, Sucre said she resigned: “so that I can exercise in a broad, responsible and transparent way my defense before the competent authorities.”
On Sunday February 28 the Public Ministry reported the opening of an investigation of Sucre, following complaints by her ex-secuity guards.
Earlier , Angelica Maytín, director of the Transparency and Access to Information Authority (Antai), had presented a , formal complaint.
