Chiriqui water predators arrested

TWO WATER  truck drivers, with an18,000  gallon capacity  have been arrested in Dolega, Chiriquí. for removing water from a river  without permission under cover of darkness.

The detentions were ordered by the Ministry of the Environment.

 Ministry official Yilka Aguirre said that it was regrettable that the drivers tried to take advantage of the situation a few hours after the start of the culecos (water sprayed on reveling Carnival goers)

It remains unclear who owns the trucks but the investigation is continuing.

Trucks are only allowed to extract water from rivers between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. The rivers where water is allowed to be extracted are the David, Fonseca, Tabasará, San Felix and Escárrea.
