Car with Assembly plates carrying cocaine

NATIONAL POLICE officers  arrested  the driver of a vehicle  with a National Assembly plaque and carrying a kilo of cocaine in the morning of Wednesday January 6, 2016

Recently an Assembly  woman staffer was arrested while transporting  over $800,000 of what was believed to be drug money.

The arrested man is lawyer Ernesto Arias,  an aide to Democratic Change deputy  Juan Poveda, who confirmed that that , the white  car carried a copy of the plate number 040 that was assigned by the Legislature for  2014-2019.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver  had run a police checkpoint in Villa Lucre, but was chased and caught in the Roosevelt area.

Poveda  told TVN News- that he had  three plates, one for his  own vehicle,  one for an  assistant and a duplicate which was in the possession of the lawyer  who had worked with him during the last election and  as a native of Atalaya acted as an advisor   on the content of bills and plans for his  circuit.

Poveda said he could not  be responsible for the actions of Arias, but would make a wider investigation into the event.
