Assembly to ratify new judges in extraordinary session.

AFTER WHAT he has called “an open and transparent process,”   President Juan Carlos Varela has announced that he will convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly from Dec. 14 to 23.

During a meeting with media before he left for the World Climate Change conference  in  Paris,  Varela said that so far the only topic to be discussed is the ratification of two judges to the Supreme Court. He will return from Paris on December 2.

The Cabinet Council will select the candidates from 10 finalists in the coming days.

He noted that  “The 10 finalists have been interviewed by civic groups in public forums.”
