Hit and run suspect facing indictment

THE MAN alleged to have been driving the car that struck and killed  cyclist Mónica Licona on Avenida Balboa on Sunday Sept. 20 is being indicted by prosecutors on  charges of aggravated manslaughter since he fled from the scene.

The car involved in the incident was found a few blocks away.

He will also undergo a physical and psychiatric exam at the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

Police sources say that he was previously investigated for his alleged relationship with a Santa Ana gang.

A judicial source confirmed that Enrique Jaén Cherigo, must explain how the event occurred and why he hid from police for six days.

Jaén Cherigo was arrested by police during a raid of a home in Las Perlas, Santiago. He was hidden in an attic. Police said they will pay the $20,000 reward that was offered for information leading to his arrest.
