Hit and run killer pleads guilty
THE MAN WHO knocked down and killed Panamanian triathlon competitor and cyclist Mónica Licona, 22, and left the scene of the accident has pleaded guilty says his lawyer.
Enrique Edwin Jaén Cherigo, 27, arrived at 10 a.m. at the headquarters of the Department of Judicial investigation (DIJ) on Monday September 29, to be formally charged with Licona’s death. Jaén Cherigo was arrested Saturday in Las Perlas, Santiago. He had been a fugitive for six days following the accident pn Sunday September when he struck and killed Licona while she was riding on Avenida Balboa, near the Mirimar Intercontinental Hotel.
He fled the scene of the accident, abandoning the rental vehicle, which on Avenida Mexico.
