Police net 2 tons of drugs and $2 million in cash
PANAMA’S war on organized crime was stepped up in the last week with three National Police operations netting 538 packages of cocaine and $2 million in cash.
The money was found hidden in secret compartments of vehicles. The cocaine was found in 538 packages aboard a ship docked outside of Panama City.
Police also reported that they have dismantled a gang dedicated to kidnapping within Panama City.
At a press conference, Attorney General Kenia Porcell stressed that two tons of drugs have been seized in September, and 35 tons have been seized so far this year.
Authorities have not said how many people were arrested.
