CD leaders dodging corruption bullets

The internal elections of the Democratic Change (CD)  Party  have about 12 people supposedly linked to the same number of processes for alleged corruption, far from prosecutors.

All these people are protected by Article 143 of the Electoral Code, according to which candidates, presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries and undersecretaries of legally constituted parties will enjoy criminal electoral immunity, from the calling  of party elections and up to three months after the end the electoral process, so they cannot be detained, arrested or prosecuted without the authorization of the Electoral Tribunal (TE).

If the TE does not take away the legal armor, not only they not  be investigated, but the case will be paralyzed reports La Prensa.

Who are the 12 people with immunity? According to a TE report, some examples,  are Mario Martinelli, brother of former President Ricardo Martinelli (Roberto Brin, former head of the purchasing department of Martinelli owned  Super 99; Damaso Garcia, former mayor of Colon; Frank De Lima, former Minister of Economy and Finance; Yazmina Pimentel, former Minister of Housing; Giselle Burillo, former Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises; Maria Cristina Gonzalez, former director of the National Immigration Service; Carlos Orillac, former managing director of the Presidency; and Luis E.
