Hospital project languishes, blame game starts

ANOTHER HOSPITAL project touted as a symbol  of the achievements of the previous administration  is languishing.

Los Santo officials are harshly critical of the latest work stoppage at the Anita Moreno Hospital and the blame game is underway.

“The workers must have been hired for just two days,” said Arcelio Calderón, the representative of Los Olivos in Los Santos.

On August  13, Minister of Health Francisco Javier Terrientes announced the restart of work on the project, which had been paralyzed for almost a year and which will eventually cost $102.9 million reports La Prensa.

But the contractor, IBT Group, has now said it will not begin work until January due to a dispute over money.

IBT Group spokeswoman Ana María Garzón said that the Ministry is responsible for the delays.

But Ministry official Gabriel Cedeño said the delays have not impacted the due date for the project, which is August 2017.
