Panama Biomuseo in line for Museum Oscar
PANAMA’S Biomuseo on the Amador Causeway is in line for the Leading Culture Destinations International Prize, considered the “Oscars” of museums, in the category “Best emerging cultural destination.”
It is one of 30 museums nominated for the award, which will be given on Oct. 9 at a ceremony in London.
Among the nominees museums are the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, France; Whitworth Gallery in Manchester, England; the Museum of design Barcelona, Spain; Sifang Art Museumin Nanjing, China; the Museum Mohammed VI of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat, Morocco; or the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, both in New York.
Three museums were nominated from Mexico, the Memory and Tolerance Museum, the Great Museum of the Mayan World and the Soumaya Museum. Also nominated from Latin America are the Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro and the New Energy Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires.
