Varela meets with Cuba’s Raul Castro

PESIDENT Juan Carlos Varela met with Cuban President at the presidential headquarters in Plaza de la Revolución in Havana on Thursday, September 10.


He arrived in Havana on Wednesday accompanied by a number of government officials, including Vice President and Foreign Minister Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado.
“I bring to Cuba an embrace of the Panamanian people and my willingness to launch a new era in our relations,” said Varela.
Later, two leaders discussed trade and tourism, among other issues.
Earlier, Panama and Cuba signed an agreement which establishes new immigration policies that will allow the nations to exchange security information.
