Backpack corruption suspect hospitalized
CORRUPTION SUSPECT, and boutique owner Poulett Morales was hospitalized on Thursday, August 13, at a private clinic in Panama City.
Morales has been detained since June 3 as part of the investigation into irregularities in the sale of backpacks to the Ministry of Education through the National Assistance Program (PAN).
Her hospital break was confirmed by her lawyer, Víctor Almengor, who said that his client will remain hospitalized for at least two days.
According to the lawyer, she had a fever and stomach pains.
An audit estimated that the state suffered economic injury of $14.2 million in the deal.
