Comptroller visits troubled hospital project

PANAMA’S Comptroller Federico Humbert inspected the troubled Hospital City project in Ancón, on Monday, August 10.

Humbert said that Spanish company FCC has started to demolish the 70 linear meters of walls that were deemed unusable for the project.
The demolition will cost $5 million, which will not be covered by the state, since the original contract stipulated that the walls be made of a different material reports La Prensa,
“The project was started without approved plans or an environmental impact study, and what we want is to restart the project with everything in order,” said Humbert,.
He added that any contract or addendum that lacks his endorsement will not be valid.
He said the contractor needs to take action to prevent the existing work from deteriorating.
