Panama teen gets $1.2 million baseball signing bonus
A 16-YEAR-OLD Panama baseball player became an instant millionaire on Thursday July 2 with a $1.25 million signing bonus from the Chicago Cubs, the highest signing bonus ever granted to a Panamanian.
Catcher Miguel Amaya of Los Santos was ranked as the 25th best international prospect. He was selected by the team in the international draft held on Thursday July 2.
His father, Max Amaya, said the player will travel to Arizona for medical checkups. If there are no problems, he will be formally signed by the team. The signing ceremony will take place in Panama
