Audit of Metro Line 1 underway
AN AUDIT of Line 1 of the Panama Metro has started as more voices are raised over the continuing major construction awards to the Brazilian construction giant, Norberto Odebrecht.
Line 1 was built by Consortium Line One, composed of Norberto Odebrecht and the Spanish firm Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas.
Four auditors and four engineers have been assigned to the Audit.
“This audit is not only about money, but also about the technical work,” said Humbert.
The audit will be “a lengthy process that will take a bit of time,” he added.
On the contract for line 2, also obtained by Odebrecht, Humbert said that he has not yet received the contract or the work plans to endorse the tender reports La Prensa.
Last week, Odebrecht President Marcelo Odebrecht was arrested in Brazil on corruption charges.
That same day, prosecutors reported that Brazilian authorities have requested judicial assistance to investigate the activities of Odebrecht in Panama.
