Uncertain future for Playa Bonita after court ruling

The future of the Playa Bonita, Hotel in Veracruz, Arraiján, is uncertain.after the contract that allowed the construction of the hotel was declared void by the Third Chamber of the Supreme Court in a ruling on May 20.

Thecontract was signed on June 17, 2003 between the then Interoceanic Region Authority (ARI) of the Ministry of Finance and the Paradise Beach Corporation,
Zamorano argued that the February 22, 2008 the Third Chamber itself had declared illegal the tender which was the basis for the contract.
“Therefore, the contract becomes illegal,” the judge in the judgment, which was also signed by her colleagues Victor Benavides and Luis Ramon Fabrega.
That contract provided for the lease of four plots of land in Kobbe (of which two were with option) for the design, construction, development, operation and management of the beach hotel.
Playa Bonita hotel was opened in December 2005, and has operated for 10 years raising several questions. What will happen to the hotel and grounds? Should they be returned to the State? Should there be a new tender and contract? Will the company Paradise Beach Corporation be compensated if the State recovers the land and the hotel?
The judgment of the Court, says nothing about the future of the hotel, whose investment was estimated at $ 20 million says La Prensa.
