Panama off the gray list in 2016

PANAMA will exit the gray list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in January 2016, says the Minister of Economy and Finance, Dulcidio De La Guardia .

The 10th of December is the review by the FATF, the scope has been Panama regarding the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
According to De La Guardia, the country’s inclusion in the list of FATF is the main threat to the Panamanian economy and the Government is working hard to solve the problems that the IMF found in Panama and is taking strong measures to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
‘We will be introducing another bill in the first quarter of next year, with a view to reforming the law governing money laundering and terrorist financing, a project that is being developed in conjunction with consultants from the Inter American Development Bank (IDB), “he said .
