Martinelli in Miami working on his memoirs
PANAMA’S former President Ricardo Martinelli, facing numerous criminal charges is living in self imposed exile in Miami and says he is working on his memoirs.
Martinelli is living in an apartment in the Atlantis building on Brickell Avenue, an exclusive residential area.
A journalist from La Prensa tried to get an interview with the former president, who faces numerous criminal charges, but he refused to grant the request.
On Thursday, April 16, a reporter from La Prensa visited the Atlantis and contacted Martinelli through the building’s security officer.
“I’m not giving interviews,” he told the reporter.
The next day the journalist again tried to get an interview, but Martinelli told her he was no longer going to be part of the “hit parade” and said he is working on his memoirs.
Asked about the content of the book, he said it will focus on his time in office.
“It will tell all the ins and outs,” he said.
In February, Martinelli granted an interview to Cuban-born journalist María Elvira Salazar. But since then he has not made any public appearances. During that time, the government has expanded its investigations into alleged corruption and other criminal acts that took place during his administration says La Prensa
