Wiretap victim withdraws from habeus corpus decision
SUPREME COURT JUDGE Victor Benavides has recused himself from taking part in the hearings of habeas corpus in favor of ex-secretaries of the National Security Council, Alejandro Garuz
and Gustavo Perez.
His reason is that he is a a victim of illegal surveillance performed the National Security Council, and covering more than 150 politicians, journalists, judges, businessmen, trade unionists and opponents of the government of Ricardo Martinelli (2009-2014) .
Garuz and Perez are in La Gran Joyal prison under investighation for r alleged offenses of violation of secrecy and privacy. Their lawyers have filedhabeas corpus writs.
An attorney for Benavides visited the Assistant Attorney General to confirm transcripts showing he had been tapped and the judge announced that he will present a complaint for violation of his communications.
