Martinelli insider cited in investigation of judge


Panama’s former vice president and member of Ricardo Martinelli’s inner circle Felipe “Pipo” Virzi will be cited on 1 Friday December 5 in the investigation surrounding suspended Supreme Court judge, Alejandro Moncada Luna.

Moncada Luna has said that Virzi made him a loan of $ 700,000, without interest, for the purchase of one of his apartments.
González said that significant progress was made in the course of investigations. He said that on Saturday November 29 three more accounts of three companies linked to the case were seized.
On Tuesday, December 2, he proceeded to seize a further account of these same companies.
The deputy-prosecutor added that he did not rule continue seizing accounts of other companies ” linked to the construction sector.
“Some of them are linked to recruitment in the judiciary,” he said.
He rsaid that the prosecution is obliged to submit to the control of the judges of guarantees for these measures. This would be done on Friday.
Moncada Luna was reported to the National Assembly by the National Bar Association and other organizations of civil society, after La Prensa uncovered his acquisition of two apartments worth $1.7 million. One of them bought for cash.
The apartments seized by the prosecution are located in PH Santorini and PH Ocean Sky in Coco del Mar.
