CD dirty tricks suspect confined to Panama

A FORMER Deputy Minister of Commerce, linked along  with former high level government figures to a call center using government funds to campaign for Ricardo Martinelli’s Democratic Change party in the last election, has been banned from leaving the country.

Second Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Lizzett Chevalier has ordered Luis Eduardo Camacho to remain in the country while he is investigated for alleged abuse of government funds.
He has been linked to a call center operated by the CD that was allegedly funded with state money.
The investigation was opened in May after the allegations were made by Giancarlo Terán, who said that he worked in the call center, located in the H2O building on Avenida Balboa.
Terán was employed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry but spent all his time working at the call center. He explained that the call center was coordinated by former Immigration Director Marí¬a Cristina González and former Tourism Authority Director Salomon Shamah. According to his testimony, part of the resources for the call center came from the Assembly.
