Supreme Court -judge calls for court action on corruption allegations
Supreme Court Justice Harry Díaz saidWednesday, October 1 that the court must act on the corruption allegations made against fellow Justice Alejandro Moncada Luna.
Through an e-mail, Díaz expressed concern about the allegations that Moncada Luna purchased two apartments in Coco del Mar valued at $1.7 million. “I hope that it is not a wrongful act,” Díaz wrote. “And I hope that the rest of the court will act. We need to discuss this issue.” Díaz said that questions about Moncada Luna’s decisions have been raised previously, such as one last November that bypassed the Tribunal Electoral on an election issue. That decision was considered a violation of the constitution and the institutional framework of the Tribunal. He warned that “the court cannot remain inactive before serious implications of potential corruption.” Díaz was vice chief justice of the court from 2012-2013, when Moncada Luna was chief justice. The two men often had differences during that period reports La Prensa.Ex-judge calls for court action on Court corruption allegations
