Gauntlet thrown down to blockading diablos rojos

PANAMA’S Public Safety Minister, Rodolfo Aguilar, threw down the gauntlet on Wednesday, August 10, to Diablos Rojos (Red Devils) owners who have been organizing street closures.

Rodolfo Aguilar said: “I find it outrageous that the drivers of these vehicles that did not meet the requirements to be compensated by the government, have the courage to put their buses on the road,” he added.
Aguilar warned that the next group of “Diablos Rojos that ” hinderthe freeflow of traffic will be prosecuted and be punished to the full extent of the law.
Tommy Lopez, secretary general of the Trade Union of Public Transport (Sicotrac) said that protests scheduled for Thursday in different parts of Panama East, were suspended pending a meeting with officials of the Transit Authority (ATTT). He added that this meeting will attempt to resolve conflicts they are having with other guilds.
David Ramirez, advisor to the ATTT) said on TVN News that pirate transports will disappear unless integrated into a dprogram and meet safety requirements. “These carriers have to adjust their busitos with a number of provisions such as, emergency doors and windows ,” he said.
