Metro Line 2 construction early 2015
WORK ON Line 2 of the Panama Metro, a project that is to be tendered on Sept. 15, could start as early as February or March 2015, says Metro Secretary Roberto Roy.
He said Friday, August 14, that the project will be open for bids on September 15 and interested contractors will have three months to submit their tenders. Once the proposals are received it will take about a month and half to do proper evaluations.
The extension of the a Metro will run from San Miguelito through the neighborhoods of 24 de Diciembre and Nuevo Tocumen.
The route with up to 16 stations will be 21 kilometers long. The stations will be located in sectors such as: Via Cincuentenario, Villa Lucre, Brisas del Golf, El Parador in Pedregal; and the Technological University of Panama. A future connection could link the system to Tocumen Airport.
