Den of Thievesdiscussing Martinelli swearing in

PARLACEN, (The Central American Parliament), labeled by Ricarso Martinelli during his presidential election campaign as “a den of thieves” convened a special meeting on Tuesday, July 1 for the “possible” swearing in of the ex-Panama president at the body headquarters in Guatemala.

Martinelli, who five years ago said that Parlacen was a “den of thieves,” has not clarified whether or not he will enter Parlacen. The last time that he was seen publicly was Monday afternoon when he left the Palacio de las Garzas.
The meeting, called by Parlacen President Paula Rodríguez was scheduled for 2 p.m. (3p.m. in Panama), according to an agenda distributed by the Parlacen Secretariat, reports, La Prensa.
Panameñista Deputy Dorindo Cortéz, current vice president of Parlacen, confirmed the meeting, and has protested the changes to the agenda, which previously had no mention of Martinelli.
“If he is sworn in today, it would set a speed record,” said Cortéz.
Parlacen has 20 Panamanian members. Martinelli, as a former president, is assigned one seat automatically. The first session of the new deputies will be in September.
