4,163 tickets for cell phone chattering drivers

IF YOU are one of the army of drivers addicted to your cell phone when driving, the National Police will be looking to have a face to face chat with you in the coming months, and leave you with a ticket to remember the conversation.

Julio Moltó, Director General of the National Police, announced Tuesday, April 15, that 4,163 tickets have been issued so far this year to chattering drivers.

Moltó made the announcement on his Twitter account where he said: "Your car is a weapon. Iif you get distracted for just seconds. you can take the life of others and even you and your family. "
The tweet of Moltó is also accompanied by a poster which urges the community to avoid chatting while driving.
He also announced that the National Police has joined a stepped up national campaign to prevent traffic accidents, called: "When you drive don’t chat”. not handle"
