Text message scammers alert

SCAMMERS are targeting Cable & Wireless Panama (CWP through text messages.

The company said the scammers sends a text message to targets asking them to call a number.

In some instances, it offers a prize, while in other instances it has a warning trying to induce the call.
The numbers are often to international locations, which can run up the phone bill.
Cable and Wireless said it announces all its promotions and services through the media. It is asking people to call 800-2485, 800-2966 or 800-2967 if they are contacted by the scammers.
