Panama based Venezuelans support homeland protestors
SOME 600 Venezuelans, including those who trooped in from Costa del Este gathered on Panama’s Cinta Costera (Coastal Strip)on Saturday February 22 to show support for anti-government demonstrators in their home country.
"SOS Venezuela we are with you" read placards carried by some participants who were dressed in white. Earlier in the week a group had presented a petition to the local office of the Organization of American States in the City of Knowledge.
Dressed in white color, explained that many of them support the struggle that is taking place in Venezuela.
In the past two weeks, the South American nation has been the scene of violent student demonstrations against the government of Nicolas Maduro.
Meanwhile, the People's Party of Panama to the Venezuelan government has demanded the immediate cessation of violence, disarmament of all paramilitary groups, an end to the persecution and harassment of student and political leaders and the immediate release of all detainees.
President Maduro has rejected the protests, considering them as part of an opposition plan to promote a coup.
