Former police chief resigns from government

DEPUTY Minister of Government, Gustavo Perez, confirmed Friday, December 27, that he has resigned his position in the government.

Perez, as National Police Chief, was involved in a bitter dispute with Security Minister Raul Mulino which finally led to him moving to become Secretary of the Security Council and later Vice Minister of Public Security. At the time Mulino resigned “irrevocably” but later returned to his post. Perez said the decision will be effective from January 1, 2014.

He said that he will return to his activities in the private sector.
