Varela confirms no opposition electoral alliance
Panameñista party presidential candidate Juan Carlos Varela confirmed Thursday that he had met with his PRD counterpart Juan Carlos Navarro without reaching an electoral alliance agreement.
Varela did not go into details about the meeting. Neither Varela nor Navarro explained the reasons for the lack of an agreement says La Prensa
Varela was limited to say: "The people first is more than a campaign slogan, it is a vision of the state and will form the basis of our government from July 1, 2014."
He added: "Today I met with Juan Carlos Navarro to explore his interest in joining forces to transform politics in Panama and the possibility of joining the forces of two historically rival parties.
"As I've said many times during the campaign, I welcome the support of all who share our goal of putting the people first and establishing emergency food price controls, reducing crime and providing basic sanitation to all Panamanians regardless of what party they belong,".
