Insider Linares, In, Out, and In again

ROBERTO LINARES, a close friend of President Martinelli. has been re-appointed as the administrator of the National Maritime Authority, effectively replacing himself, but now with an extended mandate. 

The appointment was ratified by the National Assembly on Tuesday, December,17.

Linares resigned from the post in October to possibly run for office, then apparently decided to return to the position. In the interim, the duration of the appointment was extended to seven years.

The timing of the resignation and the decision to extend the term in office were questioned by some members of the opposition, who have demanded to see a copy of Linares' resignation letter reports La Prensa
