PRD campaigning to lose – defector
ANOTHER major crack in the PRD presidential campaign opened up on Thursday, December 12 when prominent member and sugar businessman Anel ' Bolo ' Flores announced that he is leaving the party.
He said he was leaving the ranks of the Democratic Revolutionary Party because of dissatisfaction with the direction being taken by the political collective.
"There is no greater treason than to claim that we are campaigning to win, but in practice , the campaign is being done to lose." he said.
"Today I have made the decision to abandon the PRD , the party founded by Omar. Today it has become a collective kidnapped by electioneering patronage, cronyism, funded by conditional resources, leading to loss of control and negotiation by PRD militants," Flores said through a statement released by communications adviser Alfonso Fraguela .
In the statement, Flores thanked the nearly 600,000 members of the PRD for "the outpouring of support and affection” he had been given in recent years, especially when he announced his participation as a potential presidential candidate .
