Agreement ending medical strike inked

PANAMA’S medical associations and authorities signed, the a settlement agreement, in the Metropolitan Curia on Friday, November 1, ending a strike that began on September 26.

 The Minister in charge of Health, Serafin Sanchez, and General Secretary MoH, Félix Bonilla, went to the Curia to sign the document.

 Also present were Deputy Pablo Vargas, who chairs the Health Committee of the National Assembly, a body which discussed the Act 69 which allows the recruitment of foreign personnel in the country. Father Eusebio Muñoz attended for the Catholic Church.
 The agreement states that there will be no retaliation against those who participated in the work stoppage and set a recovery plan for appointments and surgeries.
