Panama goalie rated Superman by US star

PANAMANIAN goalkeeper Jaime Penedo earned the appellation “Superman” from one of America’s top players after his performance Saturday in the American professional soccer league.

A superstar save helped the LA Galaxy to a 1-0 victory over Vancouver

Penedo had an outstanding performance which included the great save in the 81st minute to stonewall Vancouver and lead his team to the 1-0 win.
The save came as Penedo lunged to his left to try to stop a shot from outside the area, which ended up hitting the post. The ball rebounded right to an attacker, but Penedo was able to deflect the shot from point-blank range.
"It was a quick reaction, and I was able to make a save to help my team win the three points," Penedo said.
Teammate Landon Donovan, a US national team star said: "In a game like this, you need an advantage in goal," said Donovan. I've played many matches in my life and I cannot remember once when a goal did not occur after that kind of bounce. It seemed that he came out of nowhere, like Superman."
"It was probably the save of the season," he added.
