Panama reaches Gold Cup semi-finals

PANAMA defeated Cuba 6-1 on Saturday July 20 to reach the semi-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup in a game played in the Georgia Dome.

Panama, which has three wins and a draw in the Gold Cup, will play in the semifinals next week in Dallas, Texas,

Panama went on the attack from the starting whistle, but Pita briefly turned the tide when he scored for Cuba in the 21st minute.
Torres quickly answered, converting a penalty a short time later and then burying a feed from Blas Perez in the 38th minute to give Panama the victory. The team added four second-half insurance goals.
Cuba played a man down and gave up four goals in the last 32 minutes after Ariel Martinez was given a red card for a hard foul against Blas Perez.
Perez scored twice, and Carlos Rodriguez and Jairo Jimenez also netted.
Torres has scored five goals in four Gold Cup Games.
